Our Holiday Wish For Everyone

December 23 2012

Blog Post 7: Sunday, December 23, 2012

The past 8 weeks has been filled with a wide range of national issues. Nationally, we’ve seen the Presidency remain unchanged; the phase “fiscal cliff” has become common place; gas prices have eased just as the holiday’s come around; Newtown has suddenly become a political reference point, not just a town or a tragedy; and there are many fiscal, emotional, and political questions we all face heading into 2013.

Personally, Tammie and I …

Being A Voice Of Kindness

October 15 2012

Blog Post 6: October 15, 2012

I was recently reminded just how ugly it is to spew negative comments. Although surprisingly enough, the experience I will referencing had nothing to do with the annual spew-fest we call our political process.  Unfortunately, I was reminded about how ugly words can be when I called an agent from another company to schedule a home tour for a client.

My wife and I were hosting an open house in a location of town …

Career Planning and Real Estate

September 10 2012

So what, exactly, do career planning and real estate have in common? They both require a plan! Hey, I’m keeping it simple today on this blog today, I need to go buy a birthday card for my wife.

I spent well over a decade learning a great deal about career planning. It is a very active process that evolves over time and changes as our life situations change. Where we start is rarely where we end up in a career, …

Home and Real Estate; not just a transaction

August 27 2012

Blog Post 3: August 27, 2012

I admit it openly: I’m a big picture idealist. I believe that I first must think well of people and let them prove me wrong. I believe that the work I engage in should matter and be a blessing to others. And I believe, without question, that every person should have a home. Whether they rent or own, people need a place to feel at home in.

Because I believe these things to be …

Your Home, Your Way: Removing buyer excuses for why they don’t want your home

August 22 2012

Blog Post 2: August 22, 2012

When we live in a house, or for that matter, any room or space that we call home, we make it our own. As kids our rooms get covered in whatever sports team or pop star we are currently interested in. Some people almost create shrines to whatever hobby or interest they have. For example, I had a neighbor growing up whose main floor bathroom was covered completely in Nebraska football articles. There was …

Omaha, Real Estate, Careers – When Life Happens

August 20 2012

Blog Post 1: August 20, 2012

After 14 years in college career services, I know a fair amount about career choices. I also have more information about the struggles people face in making career choices than most. I care so much about career decision-making I had to find a new line of work because the concerns I have about students and how universities serve them. So Tammie and I chose Real Estate and helping people with home; because our greatest …

3rd Annual CBSHOME Relocation Cook-Off a Success!

What a great turnout and successful event we had for the 3rd Annual CBSHOME Relocation Cook-Off!  On Wednesday, September 7th our sales offices participated in the annual cook-off with a friendly competition between offices.  Each office was challenged with creating a theme (decor and food) and choosing a charity.  Agents and employees voted for their favorites with their dollars!  In total, we raised over $1,600 dollars for our charities of choice and surpassed last years total by several hundred dollars.…

How to paint over wallpaper…Tips from a Pro

August 07 2011

I’ll admit, I’m kinda lucky. I have, at my disposal, an on-call handyman, craftsman, builder, designer and occasional jerry-rigger. Someone I can count on to answer questions clearly and concisely and more importantly cost effectively. Someone to think outside the box for a solution that exceeds the expectations that even I have planted in my stubborn little head. His name is Joe and he is the owner and lead builder for Vantage Design and Construction ( http://vantagedc.com/ ). He is …
